April has been a very busy month for Friends of Calaveras Animal Services, thanks largely to our generous donors.
Thanks to Don and Janyce Maund we have two brand new super duper Miele vacuum cleaners in the cat house. They are quiet, efficient and a big improvement over brooms.
We are in the process of working out the details to add more windows to the cat house, so our cats will not only have more natural light but also places where they can sit and look out the windows. We all know cats love to watch what’s going on outside.
We’ve also acquired and refurbished several large stainless steel cages to replace the old, battered plastic ones, making the cat house safer for both cats and people.
Be sure to check out our Fun Pasta fundraiser. You can get some great pasta shaped like animals, sports, holidays and much more, while helping all our efforts at the shelter.
Don’t forget these upcoming events:
Stop by our booth at the big Earth Day festival on Sunday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Utica Park in Angels Camp. We’ll have coloring projects for the kids and lots of fun information. Look for the ladies with the kitty ears and doggie treats.
Two great opportunities to get your pets’ rabies vaccinations for FREE this month.
Calaveras Animal Services and Angels Camp Veterinary Hospital will sponsor FREE Rabies Vaccinations at the Wilseyville Store on Wednesday, April 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. Dogs must be on leashes and cats in carriers. No licensing will be done at this clinic.
FREE rabies vaccines and microchips will be available at the Save a Pet Thrift shop on Highway 12 and Pine Street in Valley Springs on Saturday, April 29, starting at 1 p.m. Calaveras residents only. Dogs must be on leash and cats must be in carriers. This event is possible thanks to Save a Pet Thrift, LostandFound Pets 209, Calaveras Animal Services, Dr. Black, DVM, and of course FOCAS.
At FOCAS, 100% of all donations support the animals at the Calaveras Animal Shelter.
