With your help, the pets of Calaveras County can breathe a little easier.

An estimated 500,000 pets are affected annually by household fires in the United States. 40,000 will die from smoke inhalation.

Your Calaveras Humane Society is raising funds to purchase animal oxygen masks for the fire rigs of the Angels Camp Fire Department and the Altaville Melones Fire Protection District.

While firefighters attempt to get pets safely out of burning structures, they may not able to revive them unless they have the proper equipment: pet oxygen masks. These specially-designed animal masks can be used on both conscious pets that have suffered from smoke inhalation and pets that need to be resuscitated after losing consciousness from exposure to the often-toxic fumes. Human oxygen masks, even those designed for children, may fit improperly and be ineffective when used on animals.

Both the fire departments we’re helping have four rigs apiece. We plan to purchase 10 kits (one per truck, plus two backups) to enable our firefighters to better assist injured pets.

Please, won’t you help us to help our firefighters make the world safer for our community’s pets?  Donate now.

YES, I want to help the Angels Camp and Altaville Melones fire departments to save area pets!

As always, we thank you for your support.
